A brief history
of then and now

Since our humble beginnings in 1907 as a chocolate manufacturer called La Mulita in Old San Juan, and later a Mom & Pop store, Plaza Provision Company has become the ultimate Champion Distributor that it is today.

There are many reasons for this. Plaza Provision has been guided by a true spirit of ambition and inspired leadership for many years. As a result, we have grown into a tight network of sister companies which include Plaza Food System, Plaza Cellars, Boutique du Vin, Hunter Foods & Spirits, and Plaza Outsource Solutions.

We take pride in the extensive range of products we distribute, and we constantly seek innovative opportunities by exploring new product categories with passion. This tenacity has propelled us to expand our product offerings beyond food. Recognizing the multiple needs of our customers, we have diversified our portfolio to include additional categories such as OTC medications, personal care products, pets, hardware, gardening, and small appliances.

To cater for each category we serve, we have dedicated staff members who specialize in the unique demands and intricacies of these products. This approach ensures that we can provide comprehensive solutions and exceptional service across our entire range. Being the Champion Distributor, we are a testament to the guidance of Jim Cimino, and his close ally Jim Teale, who both played a pivotal role as instrumental leaders in the evolution of Plaza Provision Company.
